“THE LITTLE PRINCE” by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry has been translated into 110 languages and is one of the most widely read books in the world. Millions of children and adults have literally devoured the story of a young ambassador from a strange star. So there must be a universal magic about this story that is understood in all cultural circles of the world and that continues to fascinate and captivate generations of people.
Saint-Exupéry tells the dreamlike story of a prince who, coming from a distant star, asks people here on earth only seemingly simple questions. Questions that concern us all and lead us to the revelation of a truth all of our own.
The little prince only appears to be a child at first glance, but in fact these questions strike adults to the core and the evasive and sometimes even embarrassing answers from the real people on earth seem unconvincing. This makes the material true literature, a masterpiece of storytelling, and a book for adults in particular.

“One only sees well with the heart, the essential remains invisible to the eyes” he tells us and we sense in our innermost feelings that this message is true and may even make us rethink our daily actions and deeds.
There have been repeated attempts to adapt this magical material for the stage. Mostly as educational children's theater, probably with the idea that children understand the story most easily. Yet the play aims precisely to penetrate the sometimes petrified hearts of adults, who are less open, but who perhaps need an encounter with the Little Prince all the more for this very reason.
